Abstract
The current political transition in Bangladesh since the end of Sheikh Hasina’s 15-year rule has led to reformation, marking a new turning point in the political landscape. This short commentary analyzes the journey to democracy in Bangladesh from its independence in 1971 to the transition from the Hasina regime. This commentary delves into the potential political and ecological aspects of the democratization process, starting from describing the relevance of the current political and ecological crisis. It then recommends the next step forward, which involves ensuring a democratizing environment, building resilience in political institutions, and implementing more substantive democracy.
