Abstract
This paper explores the multifaceted impact of sports on the political landscape of South Asia. Through an extensive analysis of historical events, facts, and information, it aims to unravel the subtle relationship between sports and politics in the region. It also compares various case studies, historical events, and political developments to understand how sport and politics interact in the South Asian region. The results indicate that sports have a significant impact on South Asia's politics and society. The analysis encompasses key points, such as the India-Pakistan cricket rivalry, the rise of cricket heroes like Sachin Tendulkar and Imran Khan, the impact of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Indian soft power, cricket board diplomacy, and the inspiring journey of Afghanistan in cricket. It also draws the football craze that captivates the South Asian region over the four weeks of the World Cup, occurring once every four years, which not only demonstrates the widespread popularity of the sport in this area but also highlights the significance that football has on the daily lives of South Asian people.
